Megiddo and the Harvest Seed

Story sequence

Rimuru seals the battlefield and uses water droplets suspended in the air as lenses. Sunlight is focused into thousands of precisely targeted beams: the technique later called Megiddo bypasses many magic defenses because its damaging component is physical light guided by magic rather than a conventional spell.

The formation collapses before officers can reorganize. Merciless then takes the lives of soldiers who have lost the will to resist, completing the soul requirement for awakening. The account remains strategic rather than celebratory: Rimuru acts to protect Tempest and recover its dead, but understands that the choice changes him.

King Edmaris, Archbishop Reyheim, and Razan are taken alive because they have political and informational value. Rimuru summons demons to manage the survivors and battlefield; the primordial Black answers with two attendants and is fascinated by the masked slime he observed indirectly before.

Rimuru loses consciousness as the Harvest Festival begins. The summoned primordial receives the task of securing the prisoners and later the name Diablo.

Motivations

• Rimuru prioritizes certainty: no surviving army can regroup and attack Tempest during his evolution.
• The primordial Black serves because Rimuru's soul and causal history are more interesting to him than ordinary contracts.

Outcome

The Falmuth expeditionary army is eliminated as an organized force, and Rimuru obtains the souls required for awakening.

Consequences

• The surviving leaders become tools in Diablo's plan to replace Falmuth with the allied kingdom of Farmenas.
• Megiddo establishes the scale and precision of Rimuru's post-crisis combat doctrine.
