Tempest ArchiveTHE LIVING RECORD

Story sequence

Rimuru understands that humans may reject a monster nation even if trade would benefit them. Rather than demand instant trust, he creates a familiar public narrative: the adventurer Yohm will be credited as the champion who helped defeat the Orc Lord, while Tempest appears as a reliable partner.

Yohm begins as a rough leader with limited polish, but he accepts training and the responsibility of representing events he did not win alone. His party's experience in Tempest makes their testimony more convincing than official propaganda from an unknown monster ruler.

In Blumund, Guildmaster Fuse and merchant Mjollmile evaluate Rimuru through contracts, potion quality, and risk. Rimuru offers roads, safe travel, and commerce. The negotiations are small compared with later diplomacy, yet they create channels independent of the Western Church's hostility.

The plan also gives Rimuru a human agent who can move where monsters cannot and prepares Yohm for a far larger role in the future of Falmuth.

Motivations

  • Rimuru wants coexistence but knows public trust needs recognizable human witnesses.
  • Yohm accepts the role because Tempest offers his people dignity, purpose, and protection.

Outcome

Yohm's heroic reputation grows, and Tempest establishes pragmatic ties with Blumund and merchants.

Consequences

  • The roads and trade routes expand Tempest's soft power.
  • Yohm becomes the political alternative around whom the later Kingdom of Farmenas can form.
Why this matters later

Rimuru learns that a nation needs control of its story as much as control of its borders.
