Story sequence
After breaking from Michael's control, Velgrynd follows the bond to fragments of Rudra's soul scattered through reincarnations. The search takes her across separate worlds with different cultures, technological levels, and flows of time.
Parallel Existence lets her maintain or project bodies while her Ultimate Skill evolves for pursuit across dimensions. She intervenes where a soul fragment is embedded in another life, preserving what matters without simply treating every host as disposable.
The journey demonstrates that the Cardinal World's reincarnation system is connected to a much wider multiverse. Time does not advance uniformly between worlds, so distance must be understood as both spatial and temporal separation.
Velgrynd eventually converges on Masayuki, whose soul contains the central continuity of Rudra. Her return transforms his accidental fame into imperial legitimacy.
Motivations
- Velgrynd values Rudra's unique soul more than the imperial body Michael occupied.
- She wants a reunion based on the person's continuity, not on preserving an empty political shell.
Outcome
Rudra's scattered fragments are gathered around Masayuki, and Velgrynd acquires stronger world-crossing authority.
Consequences
- The light novel establishes interworld travel well before Rimuru's final return to Japan.
- Velgrynd's knowledge becomes evidence that souls and information can cross mismatched timelines.
This side story provides the mechanics and emotional precedent for the series' later time-and-world crossing.
