Story sequence
Rimuru uses the accumulated souls to awaken selected subordinates as True Demon Lord-level beings. The group later known as the Twelve Guardian Lords includes commanders with very different functions rather than twelve copies of one combat style.
Benimaru becomes the central military commander; Diablo and the primordial demonesses handle threats at the highest magical level; Geld embodies defense and construction; Gabil commands aerial forces; Ranga remains Rimuru's mobile partner; Kumara, Adalmann, and Zegion anchor labyrinth power.
Each awakening triggers a Harvest Festival and can alter dependents connected to the recipient. Ciel and Raphael's evolved systems manage energy distribution, skill gifts, and safe stabilization while Rimuru tries to keep the process from becoming a contest of status.
The result is a country whose strategic depth no longer disappears if Rimuru leaves the battlefield. Many patrons later acquire Ultimate Gifts or Ultimate Skills tailored to their identities.
Motivations
- Rimuru wants trusted leaders capable of protecting the nation against True Dragon- and Ultimate Skill-class threats.
- The patrons want enough strength to carry responsibility rather than remain people Rimuru must always rescue.
Outcome
Tempest gains an awakened high command with multiple Demon Lord-level guardians.
Consequences
- The empire's next attack meets not one overwhelming ruler but a distributed top tier.
- Ciel later refines these awakenings into individualized skill systems during the Tenma War.
Tempest's power becomes institutional: Rimuru creates successors, specialists, and autonomous protectors instead of hoarding every advantage.
