Tempest ArchiveTHE LIVING RECORD

Story sequence

The Eastern Empire has spent generations preparing to conquer the West. Its military combines armored divisions, magic technology, otherworlders, and the Single Digits of the Imperial Guard. Officers expect Veldora to be the only unpredictable obstacle in Jura.

Emperor Rudra once competed with Guy Crimson over whether humanity should be guided through unity or pressure. Repeated reincarnation has worn away Rudra's original soul, while the Ultimate Skill Michael increasingly acts through the remaining body and imperial command system.

Velgrynd supports Rudra out of enduring devotion and uses Parallel Existence to project combat bodies across distances. Lieutenant Kondo, Damrada, and other elites serve different mixtures of loyalty, control, and personal history.

Masayuki's unexplained charisma and resemblance to the imperial line foreshadow that fragments of Rudra's soul have reincarnated outside the empire's planned succession.

Motivations

  • Rudra's original ideal is a unified human world capable of peace; Michael reduces that ideal to domination.
  • Velgrynd wants to preserve the person she loves even as the mind using his body changes.

Outcome

The empire commits to invasion while the internal distinction between Rudra and Michael remains hidden from most participants.

Consequences

  • The coming war cannot end through ordinary surrender because an Ultimate Skill is steering policy.
  • Masayuki becomes the path by which Rudra's dispersed humanity can return.
Why this matters later

The imperial conflict is simultaneously a war between states, a soul-reincarnation mystery, and a struggle over who controls an Ultimate Skill.
